  • Classification System

Nurturing and developing new and veteran shooters alike is one of the core values of the Eagle Park Precision Rifle Club. We believe a great way to do that is through a friendly and fair intra-club competition.

Members of the club come from all walks of life and possess varying experience, skill and proficiency levels related to shooting sports and PRS competition specifically. It’s also important to recognise that each shooter runs gear in a set up unique to them, their preference and of course, their situation. Unlike other ranking systems within PRS, this classification system will not consider the equipment of the shooter rather it will instead focus on the skill of the shooter.

A key part of skills development is providing a baseline for each shooter that is accurate and fair. To this end, we have implemented a classification and ranking system as follows.

    Match Scoring

The system has been designed to minimise the impact of shooter numbers attending a match versus the diverse nature of shooter skill levels. At the end of the match the best and worst shooter shot the same course of fire in the same conditions. A weighted score of 80% on a bad day is just as good as 80% on a good day.

    How does match scoring work:

For each match, percentages are calculated using the following formula: Shooter’s score / winners score x 100, rounded to 3 decimal places. The percentage achieved weighted against the best shooter of the match will determine your “score” at each match

    Example:

Freddie received 54 match points (impacts).

The winner received 62 match points (impacts).

    Therefore; (54 / 62) * 100 = 87.0967 rounded to 87.097

  • Club Series & Classifications

The EPPRC season includes 7 one day matches held from January through to October with the Finale match held in November. The classification system will split shooters into one of three classification brackets based on the shooters top three match results during the season.

The classification system is a yearly performance-based system in which shooters are classed for the current season based on their year prior season series score, prior to the Finale. At the end of each season, shooters classifications will be recalculated according to the classification bracket percentages based on their end of season pre-finale series score. The shooter will retain this classification for the entire next season and compete within this classification at the next Finale (if qualified).

New club members will be advised of their classification following the October match. Returning members will retain their classification from the previous years pre-finale result and compete in the series finale in that classification.

Competitors can achieve a classification of either Pro, Semi-Pro, or Marksman. Each class consists of a percentage of the total number of affiliated shooters, based on the end of season standings, prior to the finale.

    Club Series Classification Brackets:

    • Professional – top 25% of eligible shooters
    • Semi-Professional – next 35% of eligible shooters
    • Marksman – remaining eligible shooters

Percentages are broken down from the total number of shooters, based on yearly standings.

    Season Finale

The season finale match will be held during November and is an invite only match for members who have participated in 3 or more matches through the season. The committee reserves the right to allow match entry to non-competing shooters.

Finale scoring to determine the series champion in each classification will be as follows:

Top three match results + Finale result = Season result

The Finale will count for 40% of the overall series championship score (200pts).

    Example:

    Freddie recorded four match results being: 87.097, 74.125, 80.247, 100.000, 92.852

    Freddies pre-finale result is the total of his top three scores: 100.000 + 92.852 + 87.097 = 279.949

Freddie will take the total of his top three match scores into Finale which will be added to his Finale score to determine his overall series finish.

    Finale season score example:

Freddie received 54 match points (impacts) at the finale.

The winner received 62 match points (impacts).

    Therefore; (54 / 62) * 200 = 174.1935 rounded to 174.194 + 279.949 = 454.143

    Championship Series Awards

The season Championship will be awarded after Finale using the scoring system above which mimics the PRS system. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third placed Pro shooters and to the top shooter in Semi-pro and Marksman.

Medallions will also be awarded to the finale match winner in each classification.

    Grit Championship Series

Further to operating the Club Championship Series, the Grit Championship Series will run alongside with the 3 top ranked shooters awarded a medal recognising their achievement within this series.

The overall Grit Championship will be based on an accumulation of points (impacts). Points accrued throughout the season and will be recorded and posted to a separate leader board on the EPPRC website or via Revsport. Simply put, the shooters that accrue the greatest number of impacts throughout the season will be at the top of the leader board. To be successful in this Championship requires a high level of attendance at club matches throughout the season.
